Description
Do You Guys Ever Think About Dying? Texas Does (Legislation), It’s Messy (Ethics), But Not Hard (Practice), and We Can Help!
In this Barbie Movie themed CEU event, Dr. Felderhoff and Ms. Barton will share with you recent updates and planned or proposed legislation related to end-of-life and death care practices in Texas, relevant to social work practice. They will also walk attendees through real life ethical dilemmas that practitioners in various settings (from working with expectant moms and newborns, to working with the chronically ill, aging, and end-of-life populations, and everyone in between) are likely to face in their work, while presenting practical solutions to resolving those dilemmas.
The NASW Code of Ethics, the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners' Code of Conduct, Texas Administrative Code, NASW Standards of Practice, and other relevant sources will be incorporated as resources for resolving dilemmas. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect media themes of grief and loss to their own practice setting and patient populations, with the goal of demystifying these topics for you and the clients you work with.
